Actor-producer Vishnu Vishal is stepping into the shoes of a mentor, by launching his younger brother Rudhra as a lead actor in the upcoming Tamil romantic film ‘Oho Enthan Baby’.
Jointly produced by Vishnu Vishal Productions and Romeo Pictures in association with Rahul, the film marks the directorial debut of actor and acclaimed ad filmmaker Krishnakumar Ramkumar, who has over 400 commercials to his credit. The film is slated for a July release and has already generated buzz with a warmly received first-look video.
At a recent press meet, Vishnu Vishal opened up about the emotional journey behind launching Rudhra. “It has always been my dream to introduce my brother, and this story felt like the right one,” he said. “Oho Enthan Baby is a pure love story. Though romance has featured in many of my films, I’ve never done a full-fledged romantic film myself. This project gave me that chance too.”
Vishnu also revealed that he will play himself in the film, while Rudhra takes on the role of an assistant director. “The plot revolves around him pitching a story in another genre, but when he learns about my wish to act in a romantic film, he pens one for me. What follows is a heartwarming love story packed with emotional and humorous moments.”
Sharing more personal details, Vishnu said, “Rudhra is my uncle’s son. We’ve grown up together in a joint family. His father, my uncle, was deeply passionate about cinema — he’s the reason I became an actor. Rudhra is now fulfilling his father’s dream.”
Rudhra has previously worked as an assistant director and underwent acting training. “He’s confident, charming, and fits the role perfectly,” Vishnu said. “In fact, Rudhra has three kissing scenes in this film — something I’ve never done even after 25 films!” he laughed.
Director Krishnakumar described ‘Oho Enthan Baby’ as a coming-of-age romance requiring a character to evolve from school days through college and into adult life.
“This role demanded subtle transformations across different life stages, and Rudhra was the perfect fit,” he said. “I first connected with Vishnu after he saw an episode I directed for Modern Love. When I heard this story by Mukesh Manjunath, I knew I wanted to bring it to life. Vishnu suggested the title — and it stuck immediately.”
Rudhra expressed gratitude and excitement, saying, “Acting has always been my dream, even before my brother entered cinema. Working as an assistant director with A.R. Murugadoss sir gave me practical experience, and I also contributed on the production side with my brother’s banner.”
Interestingly, Rudhra revealed aspirations beyond acting. “While assisting in direction, I discovered a growing desire to direct films too. I’ve written stories and narrated them to my brother — and someday, I definitely plan to direct them.”
When asked about mentoring his brother, Vishnu Vishal humbly said, “This generation doesn’t need advice — they’re already aware. Rudhra has watched my struggles firsthand. He’s better prepared than I ever was. Just like Susienthiran sir guided me, Rudhra now has Krishnakumar. I look forward to making more films with him under my banner.”
Starring opposite Rudhra is social media star Mithila Palkar, making her Tamil debut. The film features a powerful ensemble that includes directors-turned-actors Mysskin and Balaji Sakthivel, along with Karunakaran, Kasthuri, Redin Kingsley, Geetha Kailasam, Sujatha Babu, Nirmal Pillai, Arun Kurian and Vijaysarathy.
Oho Enthan Baby boasts music by Jen Martin, cinematography by Harish Kannan, editing by R.C. Pranav and art direction by Rajesh. The story is by Mukesh Manjunath, with additional screenplay and dialogues by Sharadha and Mukesh Manjunath. Lyricists include Ahik A.R., Karthik Netha, Venu Selvan and Rising Rapper.
With production wrapped and post-production complete, the team is gearing up for a grand theatrical release in July 2025.
