Renowned filmmaker Rasayya Kannan, known for his commercially successful debut ‘Rasayya’ and critically acclaimed ‘Kadhayalla Nijam,’ is set to produce a new film titled ‘Baila’ under his banner, Kala Theaters.
The film features acclaimed actor Samuthirakani in a content-driven lead role, with Ramya Nambeesan portraying his wife. Rajkumar plays his brother, while Sri Lankan actress Michella has been cast as his romantic interest. The ensemble cast also includes Yogi Babu, Ilavarasu, Singampuli, Madhumitha, Vijay TV fame Andrew and N. Ilango, among others.
‘Baila’ is helmed by filmmaker K. Veera Kumar, known for his work on ‘Chasing.’ The screenplay is penned by producer Rasayya Kannan himself, with dialogues written by Viji, who has previously contributed to films like ‘Azhagiya Theeyae,’ ‘Mozhi,’ ‘36 Vayadhinile,’ and ‘Goat.’
Music for the film is composed by Sanugha, who gained international recognition for his viral Indie track ‘Ayyo Saamy.’ Sri Lankan lyricist Pothuvil Ashwin is writing the lyrics. Cinematography is handled by A.S. Senthilkumar, an experienced cinematographer who has assisted industry veterans like Balu Mahendra, Rathinavel, and Arthur A Wilson.
The film’s technical crew includes Vijay Thennarasu in charge of the art department, Dhilip Subbarayan choreographing the action sequences, and Dinesh overseeing dance choreography. Sukithan Sakthivel serves as the Executive Producer, while T.N. Gokulnath is the Production Executive.
‘Baila’ is co-produced by Nilgiris Murugan for Nilgiris Murugan Dream Entertainment and K.R. Muruganantham for K.R.M Movies. The film’s shooting commenced at the historic Uttarakosa Mangai Amman Temple and Vaa Vidu Murugan Temples in Rameswaram, with ongoing production in both Rameswaram and Sri Lanka.
