Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. L. Murugan, recently held a virtual meeting with representatives from various Film Associations across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Senior officials, including Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Shri C. Senthil Rajan, Joint Secretary (IP), and Dr. Ajay Nagabhushan M.N, Joint Secretary (Films), were also in attendance.
The primary agenda of the meeting was to assess the preparations for the upcoming World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), scheduled from May 1 to 5, 2025. Discussions centered around encouraging robust participation from the South Indian film industry, including technicians, producers, directors, and actors. The officials also explored strategies to involve major production houses and establish a dedicated pavilion at the WAVES Exhibition Space.
Dr. L. Murugan emphasized that WAVES aligns with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of uniting all media segments under one platform. He stressed the event’s significance in reinforcing India’s position as a global leader in the creative industry.
