Ajay Karthi’s Psychological Horror Thriller ‘Dark’ Creates Buzz at Grand Trailer Launch Event

The trailer launch event of the upcoming Tamil film Dark, starring Ajay Karthi in the lead role, was held in Chennai amid the presence of several prominent personalities from the Tamil film industry. Produced by APV Maran and Ganesh K. Babu of MG Studios along with K. Senthil of Five Star Creations, the film marks the directorial debut of Kalyan K. Jagan and promises a unique psychological horror-thriller experience for audiences.

Written by Dada fame director Ganesh K. Babu, Dark features an ensemble cast including Ajay Karthi, Anjana Nethran, Natti Natraj, K. Bhagyaraj, VTV Ganesh, Sibi Chakravarthy, Aravind, Sahul and Naren in pivotal roles. The film’s music has been composed by Manu Ramesan, while cinematography is handled by Ravi Sakthi.

The event was attended by filmmakers Pa. Ranjith, Karthik Yogi, Vignesh Karthick and Maran Karthikeyan, along with actors Gautham Karthik, Rio Raj, Kalaiyarasan and several industry veterans who extended their wishes to the team.

Speaking at the event, many guests praised the film’s intriguing trailer and appreciated the team’s effort in bringing a psychological horror thriller to Tamil cinema. Producer D. Siva expressed confidence that audiences today are looking for fresh storytelling and believed Dark would stand out with its unique narrative approach.

Actor Rio Raj noted that psychological thrillers are no longer restricted to a niche audience and have increasingly found acceptance among family viewers. He said the trailer successfully conveyed suspense, fear and excitement, raising expectations for the film.

Veteran actor Natti Natraj revealed that he was impressed by the script when it was narrated to him and admitted that Ajay Karthi’s performance exceeded his expectations. He praised the young actor’s dedication and expressed confidence that the film would connect strongly with audiences.

Director Pa. Ranjith described the trailer as engaging and highlighted Ajay Karthi’s strong screen presence. He also emphasized the growing success of content-driven Tamil films and stated that audiences continue to support innovative storytelling when presented with sincerity and quality.

Actress Anjana Nethran, who makes her debut with the film, expressed gratitude for getting the opportunity to work alongside experienced actors in her very first project. She credited the producers and director for placing their trust in her and said the audience would enjoy the film’s unique treatment.
