Nayanthara and Kavin’s ‘Hi’ Set for Worldwide Theatrical Release on August 28

The much-awaited film ‘Hi’, featuring Nayanthara and Kavin together for the first time, has officially locked its new release date. Directed by debutant filmmaker Vishnu Edavan, the family entertainer is set to hit theatres worldwide on August 28.
Set against the backdrop of Chennai, Coimbatore and Pollachi, ‘Hi’ is positioned as a light-hearted family entertainer designed to appeal to audiences across age groups. Alongside Nayanthara and Kavin, the film features an ensemble cast including K. Bhagyaraj, Prabhu, Radhika Sarathkumar, VTV Ganesh, Sathyan, ‘Adithya’ Kathir and Qureshi in important roles.
Vishnu Edavan, who has previously worked as a lyricist on several successful films including Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Kaithi’, ‘Master’ and ‘Vikram’, makes his directorial debut with ‘Hi’. Rajesh Shukla is handling the cinematography, while Jen Martin has composed the music. Philomin Raj is the editor and S. Kannan is responsible for the art direction.
The film is jointly produced by Nayanthara, Vignesh Shivan and S. S. Lalit Kumar under Zee Studios, The Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studio. Vinoth C. J. and K. S. Mayilvaganan are the co-producers, while V. K. Kubendran serves as the creative producer.
The first song from ‘Hi’ has already gained considerable attention across digital platforms, adding to the curiosity surrounding the film. The latest release-date announcement has now given fans a confirmed date to look forward to.
According to director Vishnu Edavan, ‘Hi’ is conceived as a simple, warm and feel-good family entertainer. With its story unfolding across three Tamil Nadu cities, the film aims to offer an enjoyable theatrical experience without relying on a conventional villain-driven conflict. The filmmaker has described it as a film that carries the spirit of family entertainers such as ‘Darling Darling Darling’, ‘Santhosh Subramaniyam’ and ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’.
The combination of Nayanthara and Kavin for the first time, Vishnu Edavan’s transition from lyricist to director and the presence of an experienced ensemble cast have already made ‘Hi’ one of the films attracting attention among Tamil cinema audiences.
With the new release date now officially confirmed, ‘Hi’ will arrive in theatres worldwide on August 28.
