‘Nooru Saami’ Gains Strong Industry Backing as Vijay Antony–Sasi Reunite for an Emotional Family Drama

The upcoming Tamil film Nooru Saami, marking the reunion of actor-producer Vijay Antony and director Sasi after the success of Pichaikkaran, received an overwhelming response from the film fraternity during its pre-release event held in Chennai.
Produced by Vijay Antony Film Corporation and directed by Sasi, the film features Vijay Antony, Swasika, Lijomol Jose, Karunas, Balaji Sakthivel and several others in pivotal roles. The project also introduces Balaji Sriram as a music composer.
The grand event witnessed the presence of several leading filmmakers and industry personalities, including directors Vetri Maaran, Pa. Ranjith, A.R. Murugadoss, Mysskin, Karthik Subbaraj, Lingusamy, Raju Murugan and many others, who shared their thoughts about the film and praised Sasi's storytelling.
Many of the speakers described Nooru Saami as a deeply emotional and socially relevant film that explores the relationship between a mother and her son from a unique perspective. Several filmmakers who had already watched the film expressed confidence that it would resonate strongly with audiences across age groups.
Director Vetri Maaran praised Sasi for continuously reinventing himself and said the film carries the energy and freshness of a debut filmmaker despite his decades of experience. He also appreciated the performances delivered by the entire cast.
Pa. Ranjith recalled his early interactions with Sasi and credited him for motivating many aspiring filmmakers. Speaking about Nooru Saami, he said the film raises important conversations about society and relationships while remaining accessible to mainstream audiences.
Director A.R. Murugadoss revealed that the film is inspired by a real-life incident and lauded Sasi for handling a sensitive subject with conviction. He also singled out actress Swasika for her powerful performance, describing it as one of the film's major strengths.
Filmmaker Mysskin, known for his emotional speeches, spoke at length about Sasi’s humanity and compassion. According to him, Nooru Saami is a film that challenges society’s perceptions and highlights the struggles and dignity of women through an engaging narrative.

One of the highlights of the evening was the introduction of composer Balaji Sriram. Veteran and contemporary composers, including Vijay Antony, S.S. Kumaran, Simon and Siddhu Kumar, jointly welcomed him to the industry and wished him success. Balaji Sriram expressed gratitude to Sasi for placing his trust in a newcomer and giving him the opportunity to score the film.
Speaking at the event, director Sasi revealed that the story originated from a real-life experience shared by a mother and son. Drawing a comparison with Pichaikkaran, he said that while the earlier film portrayed a son who worshipped his mother, Nooru Saami presents a son who learns to understand his mother as a fellow human being. He expressed confidence that the film would leave audiences with a new perspective on motherhood and family relationships.
Vijay Antony described Nooru Saami as one of the most important films of his career and said it has the potential to create meaningful conversations within families. Calling it a film that celebrates women and their emotional journeys, he expressed hope that audiences would connect deeply with its message.
Positioned as a feel-good commercial family entertainer with strong emotional content, Nooru Saami is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on June 19. The enthusiastic endorsements from some of Tamil cinema’s most respected filmmakers have significantly boosted expectations surrounding the film.
