“The Story Matters, Not the Heroine”: Yogi Babu Opens Up at ‘Arjunan Per Paththu’ Trailer Launch

Actor Yogi Babu's milestone 300th film, 'Arjunan Per Paththu,' is all set for a theatrical release on July 17. Written and directed by Ra. Rajmohan, the film is produced by Krithika Thangapandi S and Thangapandi D under the Dev Cinemas banner. The cast features Yogi Babu alongside Anamika Mahi, Kaali Venkat, Aruldoss, Lenin Bharathi, Subramaniam Siva, Mynaa Nandhini, Sendrayan and several others, with music composed by D. Imman.
Speaking at the film's trailer and audio launch event in Chennai, Yogi Babu said he does not consider the number 300 as a personal achievement and believes an actor should never define success by the number of films completed. He expressed his desire to continue acting for many more years and reach the legendary milestones achieved by icons like Nagesh and Manorama.
The actor also made it clear that he is no longer concerned about acting opposite leading heroines. "I have already acted with Nayanthara. I don't have any desire or concern about who the heroine is anymore. For me, the story is what matters, not the heroine," he said.
Praising composer D. Imman, Yogi Babu described him as one of his favourite musicians and expressed his wish to have Imman score music for more of his films where he plays the lead. He also thanked his close friend Kaali Venkat, saying he would happily appear even in a couple of scenes if Kaali Venkat invited him to act.
Reflecting on his journey in the film industry, Yogi Babu said that entering cinema is difficult even for people born and brought up in Chennai. He recalled working in television comedy shows and as an assistant in the art department before establishing himself as an actor, adding that every struggle contributed to his growth.
He also shared how director Ra. Rajmohan narrated the story years ago before reconnecting with him, eventually leading to the making of Arjunan Per Paththu. Yogi Babu assured aspiring filmmakers and assistant directors that he is always willing to support newcomers who approach him with strong and well-written stories.
During the media interaction, Yogi Babu revealed that the one actor he still wishes to share screen space with is Kamal Haasan. He expressed confidence that the opportunity would come soon. He also credited his achievement of completing 300 films to his faith in Lord Murugan and reaffirmed that comedy remains his primary identity as an actor, promising to continue entertaining audiences while also taking on lead roles whenever suitable scripts come his way.
The event was attended by producer Thangapandi, directors Suseenthiran, Nithilan and Shaan, composer D. Imman, cinematographer Pradeep Kaliraja, actress Anamika Mahi and several members of the cast and crew. The trailer and songs were officially launched during the function, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony celebrating Yogi Babu's 300th film.
