Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Slum Dog – 33 Temple Road’ Promises Action, Emotion and a Powerful Human Story

The team of the much-anticipated pan-India film Slum Dog – 33 Temple Road, starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Puri Jagannadh, unveiled the film’s teaser at a grand event in Chennai. Produced jointly by Puri Connects and JB Motion Pictures, the project has been generating considerable buzz ever since its title and first-look poster were revealed.
The teaser launch event witnessed the presence of director Puri Jagannadh, actor Vijay Sethupathi, producer Charmme Kaur, actress Samyuktha, music composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar, actor VTV Ganesh and other members of the cast and crew, who shared their experiences of working on the film.
Speaking at the event, producer JB Narayan Rao Kondrolla described the film as a special milestone in his career, as it marks his debut venture as a producer. He expressed his happiness about collaborating with Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur and said that launching his production journey with a performer of Vijay Sethupathi’s stature was a matter of pride.
Producer Charmme Kaur highlighted that Slum Dog – 33 Temple Road is the first direct Tamil production from Puri Connects. She said the film blends high-octane action with strong emotional depth and praised Vijay Sethupathi for bringing both acting excellence and star power to the project. Charmme also spoke highly of Tabu, Duniya Vijay and Samyuktha, crediting them for adding significant value to the film through their performances.
Music composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar revealed that the soundtrack consists of six songs and promised that each track would offer a unique listening experience. He also hinted that the background score would play a crucial role in elevating the film’s emotional and action-packed moments.
Actor VTV Ganesh described his experience of working with Puri Jagannadh as memorable and praised the director’s simplicity despite his long list of blockbuster films. He also lauded Vijay Sethupathi’s dedication, recalling how the actor meticulously prepared for his scenes and remained fully committed to his craft throughout the shoot.
Actress Samyuktha shared that working alongside Vijay Sethupathi gave her an opportunity to witness firsthand how an actor completely transforms into a character. She also appreciated Puri Jagannadh’s filmmaking style, calling it both stylish and effortless.
Director Puri Jagannadh, who is making his direct Tamil film debut with Slum Dog – 33 Temple Road, expressed gratitude to Vijay Sethupathi for trusting him with the project. He described the actor as one of the most humble and committed performers he has worked with and said audiences would get to see a completely new dimension of Vijay Sethupathi in the film.
Puri further revealed that the story is inspired by two real-life incidents and explores the lives, emotions and struggles of people often overlooked by society. According to the filmmaker, the movie is not merely an action entertainer but an emotionally driven story rooted in human experiences.
Vijay Sethupathi, in his address, praised his co-stars and technicians while speaking warmly about director Puri Jagannadh’s creative vision. Apart from Vijay Sethupathi and Samyuktha, the film features Tabu, Kannada star Duniya Vijay, Zarina Wahab, Brahmaji, VTV Ganesh and several others in pivotal roles. National Award-winning composer Harshavardhan Rameshwar has scored the music.
