Actress Anumol honours 50 women auto drivers with welfare assistance

Actress Anumol honoured 50 women auto drivers with welfare assistance at an event held in Chennai on Vijayadashami, the final day of Navaratri. The drivers were recognised for working long hours to support their families and build financial independence.

The event took place at Sri Selva Lakshmi Marriage Hall in Kolathur. Anumol attended as the chief guest, presented the women with assistance kits and spoke with them about their work and family circumstances.

Known to digital audiences for her role in the web series Ayali, Anumol is also known for writing “Always Choose Kindness” when signing autographs for fans. The initiative was planned after her fans met with her and discussed recognising women who had established an independent identity through their work.

Addressing the gathering, Anumol said that driving an auto at all hours to support a family was demanding work. She praised the drivers for building confidence, self-respect and an identity of their own, and said women should have access to financial independence, healthcare and education.

She also urged them to support one another and continue pursuing their goals with determination, regardless of discrimination based on appearance, complexion or language.

The assistance kits included insulated water bottles, quality sanitary napkins, power banks and first-aid kits. The organisers also served a meal.

Auto driver Bhavani thanked Anumol for considering the women’s needs. She said the assistance and the gesture of honouring them would remain a cherished memory.
