Jiiva’s Thagappan to Release in Theatres on December 24

Jiiva’s upcoming Tamil film Thagappan will release in theatres worldwide on December 24, the makers have announced with a new poster. Produced by Lark Studios, the film is directed by Ra. Venkat.

Set in and around Madurai, Thagappan is a family drama centred on the relationship between a father and son, family affection and human emotions. The makers say members of the public who watched scenes being filmed in Madurai were moved and praised the team, adding to anticipation for the film.

Following Thenavattu, this is Jiiva’s next film set entirely in a rural backdrop. After the success of TTT, his role in a story rooted in Madurai’s culture and landscape has drawn attention. The team hopes the film will be a distinctive addition to the actor’s career.

Rajisha Vijayan plays the female lead. The music is composed by independent musician Marshall Robinson, who has worked with leading composers including Anirudh.

K. Kumar is producing the film, with M. Sukumar handling cinematography. Nagooran Ramachandran is the editor, and K.B. Nandhapalan is the art director. Mahesh Mathew choreographs the action sequences. M. Selvaraj is the costume supervisor, while Rithesh Selvaraj is the costume designer. T. Uday Kumar is responsible for sound recording, and Theni Anbu is the still photographer.

Think Music has acquired the film’s audio rights. Zee Tamil has secured the satellite rights, while ZEE5 has acquired the OTT rights ahead of the film’s completion. The team is currently working on the final stages of production ahead of the December 24 release.
