‘Middle Class’ – A Realistic Tale Blending Family Emotions and Social Realities
The upcoming Tamil film Middle Class brings together heartfelt family emotions and the realities of everyday life faced by the middle class, told with a touch of humor and sensitivity. Directed by Kishore M. Ramalingam, the filmmaker describes it as “a family drama that also carries influences from multiple genres,” hinting that the movie will go beyond the conventions of a typical emotional drama to offer a layered cinematic experience.
Starring Munishkanth Ramdoss and Vijayalakshmi in the lead roles, Middle Class revolves around the dreams, financial struggles, and changing social circumstances of an ordinary family. The story follows a husband who dreams of settling peacefully in a village by buying a small piece of land, while his wife aspires to live a proud and modern city life. The clash between these two mindsets forms the heart of the narrative, unfolding through a series of humorous and emotional incidents.
The film takes a sharp turn when a YouTube-related event suddenly disrupts their peaceful life, pushing the story into unexpected territory. What begins as a simple family drama gradually evolves into a suspenseful and engaging journey. According to the director, the movie reflects not only the emotional layers within family life but also the subtle influence of modern society on middle-class values and choices.
Actress Vijayalakshmi shared that her role represents “the dreams and realities of a middle-class woman,” adding that many of her real-life experiences resonate with the character. Munishkanth remarked that Middle Class is not a hero-centric film but one driven by strong characterisation and grounded storytelling, which convinced him to take on the role.
Cinematography for the film is handled by Sudarshan, with music composed by Pranav Muniraj. Produced jointly by Axess Film Factory and Good Show, Middle Class is slated for release on November 21. Blending humor, emotion, and authenticity, the film promises to portray the genuine struggles, aspirations, and spirit of everyday middle-class life.
