Director Prabu Solomon, known for blending nature, emotion, and human connection in Tamil cinema, is back with ‘Kumki 2’, a spiritual successor to his 2012 classic Kumki. The film’s press meet was held in Chennai on November 6, 2025, in the presence of the cast, crew, and several leading filmmakers from the industry.
Produced by Dr. Jayantilal Gada and Taval Gada under Pen Studios, Kumki 2 introduces Mathi as the lead hero, alongside Shradha Rao, Arjun Das, Andrews, Akash, Harish Peradi, and director Thiruchelvam. Music is scored by Nivas K. Prasanna, with cinematography by M. Sukumar and editing by Bhuvan.
Speaking at the event, actress Shradha Rao described the challenges of shooting in the forest. “There was no power or phone signal. Every day felt like an adventure. But that struggle gave the film its soul,” she said.
Director Nithilan praised Prabu Solomon as “a man of honesty and realism,” while filmmaker Madonne Ashwin recalled how Prabu Solomon had been an inspiration since their early filmmaking days. Director Brinda Sarathy appreciated the film’s technical brilliance, especially Sukumar’s breathtaking visuals and Nivas K. Prasanna’s soulful music.
Lead actor Mathi thanked his mentors, saying, “Being launched by Lingusamy sir, Bose sir, and Jayantilal Gada sir in a Prabu Solomon film is a huge blessing. I’ve given my all to this role.” Nivas K. Prasanna added, “Kumki 2 took me deeper into my musical journey. Prabu Solomon sir made me feel the story through sound.”
Producer Jayantilal Gada called Mathi “the Hrithik Roshan of Tamil cinema” and said he was deeply impressed by the team’s hard work in extreme conditions. Director Lingusamy, who also attended the event, said, “Kumki 2 will recreate the same magic that the first film brought to theatres. Nivas K. Prasanna is the shining light of today’s Tamil music.”
Concluding the event, director Prabu Solomon spoke emotionally about the film’s long journey since 2018 — from its forest shoot to the post-pandemic completion. “We faced unimaginable challenges, but every hardship was worth it. This film carries the soul of everyone who worked for it,” he said.
Kumki 2 is set for a grand theatrical release on November 14, 2025, promising to once again take audiences deep into the heart of the forest — where man, nature, and emotion breathe as one.
