The trailer of ‘Modha Rathri’, produced by leading production house Mythri Movie Makers and directed by debutant filmmaker Raja Karuppasamy, was unveiled at a special event held in Chennai. Starring Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar in the lead roles, the film has completed its shooting and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 21.

The film has already attracted attention for bringing together a relatively new team under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers, a production house known for backing films across multiple Indian languages. Producer Ravi Shankar said that the story impressed the production team from the moment director Raja Karuppasamy narrated it. He expressed confidence that ‘Modha Rathri’ would connect with audiences through its engaging storyline and wished the entire team success.

Several prominent members of the film fraternity who attended the trailer launch appreciated the efforts of the newcomers involved in the project. Editor Ashok Arjunan and cinematographer Suresh Paranjothi thanked Mythri Movie Makers for trusting and providing opportunities to a new team, while actor Chetan recalled hearing the story with his family and being impressed by its humour.

Composer Bharath Shankar described director Raja Karuppasamy as a straightforward and warm person, adding that the film has turned out quite differently and impressively from the director's personality. He urged audiences to watch the film in theatres on August 21.

The performances of lead actor Rishikanth also received considerable praise from the guests at the event. Director Karthik Subbaraj appreciated Rishikanth's ability to completely absorb his character and perform naturally, while noting that watching the film gave him a feeling reminiscent of a Bhagyaraj film.

Director Ravikumar of ‘Ayalaan’ praised Raja Karuppasamy's ability to identify an interesting story and translate it effectively onto the screen. He also said that Rishikanth has clearly taken a major step forward as a leading actor with this film and expressed confidence in the project's success.

Director Sri Ganesh revealed that he has known Rishikanth for more than a decade and expressed happiness over his transition into the lead role. Director Pari highlighted the importance of supporting smaller films, pointing out that while big-budget movies can excite audiences, smaller films often have the ability to surprise them.

Anishma Anilkumar, who plays Muthu Selvi in the film, thanked the director and production house for giving her the opportunity to be part of the project. She also expressed her gratitude to the entire team.

Director Raja Karuppasamy thanked cinematographer Dinesh Purushothaman and the entire team for their contribution to the film. He revealed that the story has been shaped by his own experiences and dedicated the film to all the women who have been part of his life. He also emphasised his belief that small-budget films can play an important role in taking Tamil cinema forward.

Lead actor Rishikanth thanked the media for recognising and appreciating his performances in his earlier films. He revealed that the story of ‘Modha Rathri’ originally began as a short film and that the team spent nearly six years developing it into a feature film. He thanked the director for standing by him and the producers for believing in the story, adding that he is happy to be part of a film that he believes audiences can enjoy with their families.

With its trailer now released and the film gearing up for its worldwide theatrical release, ‘Modha Rathri’ is expected to attract attention for its fresh team, distinctive storyline and the performances of its lead actors.
