Netflix Original Tamil Series ‘#Love’ Trailer Out – Arjun Das and Aishwarya Lekshmi Explore Modern Love

The trailer of Netflix’s upcoming Tamil Original series ‘#Love’, created around the complexities of modern relationships, has been released. Directed by Balaji Mohan, with Soundarya Rajinikanth serving as showrunner and producer, the series stars Arjun Das and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles.
Set against the changing dynamics of love and relationships in the digital age, ‘#Love’ explores dating, compatibility, chemistry and emotional connections through a blend of humour and heartfelt moments. The series revolves around two rival dating-app founders who have very different opinions about what makes a relationship work.
Matthew, played by Arjun Das, believes that compatibility is the foundation of a lasting relationship, while Tara, portrayed by Aishwarya Lekshmi, approaches love from a different perspective. As the two compete to prove their respective views, their own relationship begins to challenge the theories they have built their professional lives around.
The story revolves around two dating applications, FOUND and Find My Bae. While Tara and Matthew have made a profession out of helping others find their ideal partners, they find themselves struggling when it comes to finding love for themselves. Their rivalry, evolving relationship and contrasting perspectives form the central thread of the series.
Speaking at the trailer launch in Chennai, Netflix’s Monika Srivastav described ‘#Love’ as Netflix’s first Tamil romantic drama series and said the platform continues to focus on bringing distinctive South Indian stories, voices and perspectives to audiences.
Showrunner and producer Soundarya Rajinikanth spoke about the responsibility of taking a Netflix Original series from its initial idea through the entire production process. She said the journey involved taking several difficult decisions while also learning when to stand by a decision and when to adapt it when required.
Director Balaji Mohan, known for films including ‘Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Eppadi?’, ‘Vaayai Moodi Pesavum’, ‘Maari’ and ‘Maari 2’, has once again explored love and relationships through his distinctive storytelling style. Speaking about the series, the director said love is something that can never be completely understood, which is one of the reasons he continues to return to the subject through his stories.
Balaji Mohan has attempted to bring together the dreamy aspects of romance with emotions that remain close to real life. The director hopes audiences will be able to connect the situations in the series with their own experiences while also enjoying the fictional world created for the story.
Arjun Das, who plays Matthew, said that the emotional and vulnerable side of his character was what attracted him most to the role. Speaking about whether he would be friends with Matthew if the character existed in real life, the actor said he could see himself becoming friends with him to talk about his adventurous side, although some of Matthew’s choices might not necessarily appeal to him.
Aishwarya Lekshmi, meanwhile, described playing Tara as a liberating and enjoyable experience. The actress revealed that she could relate to a significant part of Tara’s personality and said the character did not feel too distant from her own nature. She also expressed happiness about finally sharing the screen with Arjun Das after an earlier opportunity to work together did not materialise.
The chemistry-versus-compatibility debate also became part of the trailer launch discussion. Arjun Das expressed the view that compatibility becomes increasingly important when a relationship has to survive over a longer period, while Aishwarya Lekshmi said chemistry can be the initial spark that eventually leads a relationship towards compatibility.
‘#Love’ addresses how romance has changed in the digital era, where relationships can begin with a swipe, a match or a message rather than a conventional face-to-face meeting. Through Tara and Matthew’s contrasting beliefs and evolving relationship, the series explores how love can challenge even the ideas people believe they understand.
Nirmal Williams has written the series, with Sharada Subramanian and Swetha Chakravarthy serving as co-writers. Sean Roldan has composed the music, while Sai Muthuraman and Siva have handled the editing. May6 Entertainment Factory has produced the series.
With the trailer now out, expectations are building around the Arjun Das-Aishwarya Lekshmi pairing, Balaji Mohan’s take on contemporary romance and the series’ central question of whether chemistry or compatibility plays the greater role in love.
Exploring love, friendship, family, ambition and the changing nature of relationships, Netflix Original Tamil series ‘#Love’ will premiere on Netflix on October 2.
