Raghava Lawrence to Play Mahaveer Karna in Rs.150-Crore Five-Language Epic

The legendary warrior Karna from the Mahabharata is set to come alive on the big screen in a massive new cinematic spectacle titled Mahaveer Karna, with actor Raghava Lawrence portraying the iconic character and filmmaker Ramesh Varma directing the project.

Presented by Jayantilal Gada of PEN Movies, the film is being produced on a grand scale by RV Studios and Sri Neeladri Productions. Mounted on an estimated budget of Rs.150 crore, Mahaveer Karna is being simultaneously made in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada.

The makers are planning to present the legendary story of Karna on a spectacular visual canvas, combining elaborate specially constructed sets, detailed period designs, large-scale battle sequences and extensive VFX work. The film is expected to recreate ancient kingdoms, battlefields and larger-than-life environments while blending physical production design with contemporary visual effects technology.

At the centre of the film is Mahaveer Karna, a legendary warrior whose life is marked by honour, loyalty, sacrifice and destiny. Raghava Lawrence will step into the challenging titular role, while director Ramesh Varma aims to bring Karna's epic journey to the screen through a combination of emotion, action and large-scale visual storytelling.

The production is being designed to offer audiences an immersive experience, with massive sets and elaborate action sequences forming a significant part of the film's visual world. The extensive use of VFX is also expected to enhance the scale of the kingdoms, battlefields and other epic settings depicted in the story.

The makers are set to announce the remaining cast and technical crew members in phases. Each announcement is expected to reveal more details about the team behind this ambitious historical-mythological spectacle.

With Raghava Lawrence taking on the role of Mahaveer Karna and Ramesh Varma at the helm, the film aims to bring the world of the legendary warrior to a new generation of audiences in a grand cinematic format.

Mahaveer Karna is scheduled to have a worldwide release in 2027 across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Kannada.
