“Ram Charan Has Given His Heart and Soul to ‘Peddi’,” Says A.R. Rahman at Grand Chennai Press Meet

The grand press meet of Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s much-awaited rural sports drama ‘Peddi’ was held in Chennai amidst huge excitement and media presence. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana and produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru, the pan-India entertainer revolves around the inspiring and emotional journey of a crossover athlete, blending action, emotions, sports, and intense drama.
Set for a worldwide theatrical release on June 4 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, the film has already created massive buzz among audiences across the country. As part of the nationwide promotions, the team interacted with the Chennai media and shared several exciting insights about the film.
Speaking at the event, cinematographer R. Rathnavelu called ‘Peddi’ one of the most important films in his career. “Just like Sethu, Vaaranam Aayiram, and Enthiran became milestones in my journey, Peddi will also remain very special to me. Director Buchi Babu has written a fantastic script. Music, visuals, and performances have come together beautifully in this film. This won’t be just a movie-watching experience; it will completely immerse audiences emotionally,” he said.
Rathnavelu also praised Ram Charan’s dedication towards the role. “He has undergone tremendous physical transformation for this character. From appearing like a sportsman to portraying a rugged village youth, he completely reinvented himself. I strongly believe this will be one of the finest performances of Ram Charan’s career,” he added.
Actor Divyenndu Sharma expressed happiness over making his Telugu cinema debut with ‘Peddi’. “This film pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to explore myself as an actor. Buchi Babu gave me complete freedom to perform the character in my own style. Ram Charan made me feel comfortable from day one with his warmth and kindness,” he shared.
Director Buchi Babu Sana said Chennai always holds a special place in his heart. “Cinema lives in Chennai. Some of the greatest artists I admire belong to this city. ‘Peddi’ is a deeply emotional film and audiences will especially remember Ram Charan’s performance in the second half. Everyone who watched the special previews has been calling and appreciating the film,” he said.
Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar revealed that he immediately agreed to do the film after hearing about the guru character. “I was extremely happy to work with Ram Charan. However, during that time I was diagnosed with cancer and feared I might not be able to do the film. But the team waited for me, which touched me deeply. Ram Charan’s commitment and transformation for this role are extraordinary,” he stated emotionally.
Music maestro A.R. Rahman heaped praise on Ram Charan and compared his growth to that of his legendary father Chiranjeevi. “Many may have wondered whether Ram Charan could reach the heights of his father, but today he has created a unique identity for himself. He has become another giant tree on his own. His dedication is visible in every frame of the film,” Rahman said.
He also revealed that the background score work was completed only recently. “Even after finishing the score this morning, we still felt like exploring ways to make it even better. That excitement and passion define this project,” he added.
Ram Charan, addressing the media, turned emotional while speaking about Chennai. “Chennai is very special to me because I was born and brought up here. Every time I come here for promotions, it feels like coming home. My mother also belongs to Chennai, so there is always a personal connection,” he said.
Talking about the film, Ram Charan said the team had spent nearly two-and-a-half years working on the project. “We worked for more than 285 days on this film, but no one worked harder than Buchi Babu. I didn’t do this film just as an actor; I did it with complete love and passion. This is a film families and children will connect with emotionally,” he stated.
Ram Charan also extended his wishes to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. “Leaving behind a massive film career and entering public service is admirable. As someone from the film industry, I feel proud of him,” he said.
Featuring Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Divyenndu Sharma in pivotal roles, ‘Peddi’ is regarded as one of the most anticipated films of the year. The songs composed by Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman have already received a tremendous response from fans, while the recently released trailer has further elevated expectations surrounding the film.
‘Peddi’ is all set for a grand worldwide theatrical release on June 4.
