Rukmini Vasanth Teams Up With ‘Kanam’ Director Shree Karthick for New Tamil Film

Actor Rukmini Vasanth, known for her performances in ‘Sapta Sagaradaache Ello’ and ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’, is set to headline a new Tamil film directed by Shree Karthick of ‘Kanam’ fame. The untitled film also stars Dev Ramnath and Vinayak Vaithianathan, and marks the first collaboration between Rukmini and Shree Karthick.
The makers introduced Rukmini’s character, Thara, through an announcement video. In the clip, Shree Karthick, Dev Ramnath and Vinayak Vaithianathan are seen trying to finalise their choice for the role before an unexpected notification changes the course of events. The video ends with Rukmini’s reveal, offering viewers their first glimpse of the film.
Shree Karthick’s previous film, ‘Kanam’, combined a time-travel premise with the emotional story of a mother and son. His next project is described as bringing together a fresh cast and a new story.
The film is produced by Madboys Entertainment and Siruni Cine Corporation, with Saikrishna Gadwal as co-producer. Madboys Entertainment was founded by Dev Ramnath and Shree Karthick. Its earlier work includes the Tamil web series ‘I Hate You – I Love You’ and the award-winning short film ‘Childhood Diaries’.
Siruni Cine Corporation, associated with producer Jaswanth, previously backed Rahul Ravindran’s ‘Chi La Sow’, which won the National Film Award for Best Original Screenplay. Saikrishna Gadwal has also been associated with ‘Keedaa Cola’ and ‘Kaantha’.
Madboys Entertainment has also been sharing a fictionalised, Instagram-exclusive docu-drama series inspired by the team’s experiences over the past 18 months. Across nine episodes so far, the series blends real-life experiences with dramatised storytelling and culminates in the announcement of Rukmini as Thara.
The film’s title is expected to be announced soon.
