In a world where competitive exams decide the future of thousands, ‘Exam’ attempts to explore the pressure, corruption and emotional trauma hidden behind the education system through an engaging thriller format. The web series blends suspense with human emotions, keeping the narrative intriguing for most of its runtime. Though a few episodes feel slightly stretched, the series manages to hold attention with its tension-filled storytelling and layered conflicts.
Dushara Vijayan delivers one of the strongest performances in the series as Jansi. She brings intensity, vulnerability and emotional depth to the role with remarkable ease. Her expressions and body language perfectly capture the frustration and mental pressure faced by her character, making her the emotional anchor of the show. Aditi Balan also leaves a strong impression with her composed and mature performance. She handles her role with subtlety and adds credibility to the investigation-driven portions of the story.
Abbas, returning in an important role, delivers a calm and effective performance that adds emotional balance to the narrative. The supporting cast too fit naturally into the world of the series and contribute well to the overall tension and drama.
Director A. Sarkunam deserves credit for attempting to present an education scam story not merely as a crime thriller, but also as a reflection of social inequality and systemic pressure. While the screenplay could have been tighter in certain stretches, the emotional conflicts and suspense elements keep the momentum alive till the end.
Sam C.S.’s background score plays a major role in elevating the tense moments of the series. The cinematography complements the dark tone effectively with visually grounded frames, while the editing, despite a few slow patches, succeeds in maintaining the thriller mood.
Overall, ‘Exam’ is a reasonably engaging web series that mixes suspense with social commentary, backed by strong performances and an emotionally driven core.
