“Auto Drivers Are the Real Heroes” – Malaysian Rapper Kidd Santhe Launches ‘Naa Vera Level’ in Chennai

Malaysian Tamil hip-hop sensation Kidd Santhe’s latest album single “Naa Vera Level” was officially launched at a grand press meet held in Chennai. Released by leading music label Sony Music, the track has already begun grabbing attention for its energetic vibe and emotional tribute to Chennai’s auto drivers.
Known for blending Tamil, English, Malay, and Punjabi influences into his music, Kidd Santhe has emerged as one of the most promising young voices in the global Desi Hip-Hop movement. Having started his musical journey through beatboxing and independent tracks on SoundCloud at the age of 16, the rapper steadily built a strong fan base with songs like “API,” “SAMPAH,” “Ambani Money,” and “Penjenayah.”
His latest release, “Naa Vera Level,” is deeply rooted in Indian culture and celebrates the everyday struggles and dedication of auto drivers. The music video was shot in Chennai and showcases the city’s vibrant streets and working-class spirit.
Speaking at the event, director Parthiban Ravi called the project his “first international album experience” and thanked Sony Music Malaysia and Sony Music South for the opportunity. He also praised the entire team for bringing Kidd Santhe’s vision to life.
Sony Music representative Revathi Mariappan revealed that although the song was initially planned to be shot in Malaysia, Kidd Santhe insisted on filming it in Chennai to capture the authentic cultural essence of the concept. She added that the warm reception from Tamil Nadu audiences had been overwhelming for the entire team.
The highlight of the event was Kidd Santhe’s heartfelt speech about the inspiration behind the song. “This track is not about me. It is about the real heroes of everyday life — auto drivers,” he said. The rapper shared that the idea came to him after an incident during his first visit to Chennai, when he helped an auto driver change a punctured tyre.
“They work hard every day despite rising fuel prices, maintenance costs, and increasing competition from bike taxis. This song is my tribute to their resilience and contribution,” he added.
Kidd Santhe also expressed gratitude for the love and support he has received from Tamil audiences, stating that the project represents not just his dream, but also the aspirations of many Tamil artistes from Malaysia hoping to make a mark internationally.
“Naa Vera Level” is now available on Sony Music’s official YouTube platform.
