“Blast” Team Promises A Powerful Action Entertainer With A Strong Message On Women’s Safety

The press meet of the upcoming Tamil action entertainer “Blast,” starring Action King Arjun, Abhirami and Preethi Mukundan, was held in Chennai ahead of the film’s worldwide theatrical release on May 28. Produced by AGS Entertainment and directed by debutant Subash K. Raj, the film has already generated strong buzz with its teaser and trailer receiving an impressive response from audiences.
Apart from Arjun, Abhirami and Preethi Mukundan, the film also features John Kokken, Arjun Chidambaram, Pawan, Bala Hasan and Vinod Sagar in pivotal roles. The film has cinematography by Arun Radhakrishnan, music composed by Ravi Basrur and art direction by Veeramani Ganesan. “Blast” is produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh and Kalpathi S. Suresh under the AGS Entertainment banner, with Archana Kalpathi serving as Creative Producer and Aishwarya Kalpathi as Associate Creative Producer.
Speaking at the event, director Subash K. Raj expressed his gratitude to AGS Entertainment for trusting a newcomer like him with a large-scale project. He revealed that filmmaker Pradeep Ranganathan played a major role in his journey by introducing him to the production house after listening to the story. The director described “Blast” as a family-oriented action entertainer that emotionally connects with audiences, especially fathers and families. He also mentioned that the film subtly addresses important social issues without turning preachy.
Music director Ravi Basrur shared that he was immediately impressed by the narration and the detailed vision of the action sequences. He said he experimented with several fresh musical ideas for the film and called “Blast” one of the most special projects in his career. He also highlighted that several international musicians had contributed to the soundtrack, adding a unique scale to the film’s audio experience.
Actress Preethi Mukundan described the film as a milestone in her acting career and thanked the makers for giving her a powerful action-oriented role. She said strong female action characters are rarely written for emerging actresses and added that the training and support provided during the stunt sequences helped her deliver her best performance.
Abhirami, who reunites with Arjun after 25 years, said she was thrilled to be part of a film that gives equal importance to female characters. She also noted that “Blast” marked her first full-fledged action role and appreciated the effort taken by the stunt team in presenting her in a completely new avatar.
Creative Producer Archana Kalpathi revealed that the film strongly focuses on women’s safety and self-defense. She stated that the core idea of the film revolves around raising a girl child with confidence and courage in today’s society. She also praised director Subash for writing impactful female characters and said AGS Entertainment was proud to support fresh talent and meaningful commercial cinema.
Arjun, who plays a karate master in the film, said it was the first time in his long career that he portrayed such a character on screen. He praised director Subash K. Raj for his confidence and clarity in handling the film and appreciated the dedication shown by the young team. The actor also lauded the performances of Abhirami and Preethi Mukundan and said audiences would be surprised by the intensity and commitment they have brought to their roles.
With a blend of action, family emotions, strong female characters and a socially relevant theme, “Blast” is shaping up to be a complete theatrical entertainer aimed at audiences of all age groups.
