Mohan G Urges CM Vijay to Launch Exclusive OTT Platform for Tamil Cinema

The audio and trailer launch event of the upcoming Tamil film Silambam was held grandly at Prasad Lab, Chennai, in the presence of several film personalities and stunt artistes. Produced under the Lakshmi Narayana Films banner, the film is written and directed by stunt master Dr. A.K.S. Jothi. Newcomer Ajith plays the lead role, while Harish makes his debut as the antagonist and Mounika Reddy stars as the female lead.
One of the major highlights of the event was director Mohan G urging Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay to launch a dedicated OTT platform for Tamil cinema. He stated that small-budget films are struggling to secure theatrical and OTT releases and alleged that social media influencers are increasingly deciding the fate of films. Mohan G stressed that a government-backed OTT platform could become a major support system for independent and small-scale filmmakers.
Director Perarasu grabbed attention with his speech claiming that “only action heroes succeed in politics.” He also made a heartfelt appeal to actor Ajith Kumar, asking him to complete his car racing commitments and return to cinema soon, saying fans are eagerly waiting for his comeback.
Veteran silambam master Power Pandian spoke proudly about the growth of the traditional martial art and credited late actor and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. G. Ramachandran for popularising silambam through cinema. He described silambam as not just a martial art but an identity of Tamil culture.
Director Dr. A.K.S. Jothi revealed that more than 300 trained silambam artistes were part of the film and said the movie aims to showcase the heritage, discipline and history behind the ancient Tamil martial art. The trailer and songs received an enthusiastic response from the audience at the event.
