GV Prakash Kumar Releases ‘Thangapulla,’ the First Single from Jiiva’s ‘Thagappan’

The first single, “Thangapulla,” from actor Jiiva’s upcoming film Thagappan has been released by composer and actor G. V. Prakash Kumar. Directed by Ra. Venkat and produced by Lark Studios, the film features music by Marshal Robinson. Pa. Vijay has written the lyrics, and Murugavel has sung the song.

“Thangapulla” explores the love and longing of a father living apart from his son. Rather than depicting a father and son sharing affectionate moments together, the song focuses on a father who watches his son’s happy moments from a distance, quietly cherishing them while unable to express his love directly.

The song pairs gentle music with Pa. Vijay’s heartfelt lyrics and Murugavel’s vocals to convey emotions the father cannot put into words. Its portrayal of separation and enduring affection has drawn attention from listeners.

Set in and around Madurai, Thagappan centers on the bond between a father and son, family affection and human emotions. Jiiva returns to a rural setting after Thenavattu, with Rajisha Vijayan playing the female lead.

Produced by K. Kumar, the film has cinematography by M. Sukumar and editing by Nagooran Ramachandran. Think Music has acquired the audio rights. The satellite rights have been acquired by Zee Tamil, while ZEE5 has secured the OTT rights, according to the release.

Thagappan is scheduled to release on December 24. The newly released “Thangapulla” single is adding to the anticipation for the film.
