Panivizhum Iravu Movie Review: A Misty Mystery That Loses Its Pace

A pre-wedding trip to Kodaikanal takes a troubling turn when a young woman goes missing. Her fiancé’s report to the police sets an investigation in motion, and what first appears to be a straightforward disappearance gradually becomes a mystery filled with questions and unexpected turns.
The film makes good use of its hill-station setting. The misty landscapes and shadowy bungalow create an uneasy atmosphere, while the background score adds tension to several scenes. Arun Karthi brings emotional urgency to the lead role, and Cheran Raj provides a composed presence as the officer handling the case. The story also has a few revelations that keep the mystery alive.
However, the film takes too long to build momentum. Some scenes repeat the same emotional beats, and the investigation could have been tighter. As a result, the suspense comes and goes instead of steadily drawing the viewer in. The final explanations also take away some of the force of the build-up.
Panivizhum Iravu has an intriguing premise, atmospheric visuals and a handful of engaging turns, but its uneven pacing holds it back. It may appeal to viewers who enjoy mystery thrillers, though it never becomes as gripping as it could have been.
