Lal Salaam Movie Review

Lal Salaam has been directed by Aishwariya Rajinikanth. Rajinikanth, Vikranth, Vishnu Vishal, Jeevitha Rajasekar, Livingston, Nirosha, Poster Nandakumar, Vivek Prasanna, Senthil, K.S.Ravikumar, Thambi Ramiah and few others have been star-cast in the movie.

Rajinikanth and Livingston are very close friends and live in the same village. Vishnu Vishal is the son of Livingston and Vikranth is the son of Rajinikanth. Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth study in the same private school where their ego clashes between them and at one point of time Vikranth moves out to a different school.

Rajinikanth hails from a Muslim community and Livingston hails from a Hindu family. The village they both reside occupies both Hindu and Muslim communities with equal population. Poster Nandakumar is a politician and is very keen to bag votes from that village which is a challenge for him. Vivek Prasanna son-in-law of Nandakumar executes a community violence within the Hindus and Muslims of that village.

The clash between the Hindus and Muslims of that village roots into the mindset of youngsters to form two separate cricket teams for Hindus and Muslims.

At one point of time Rajinikanth relocates to Mumbai along with his family and leads his life in Mumbai as a Don. Rajinikanth wishes to train his son Vikranth as an India Cricket player.

The remaining part of the movie showcases what. What happens later between the Hindus and Muslims of that village? Was Rajinikanth able to handle his counterpart Dons of Mumbai? Did Vikranth satisfy his father Rajinikanth by becoming a cricket player representing India would answer in the remaining part of the film.

The story-line resembles like the recently released Tamil movie Blue Star. Rajinikanth who was said to be making a cameo in this movie has travelled in the whole movie. It is regrettable that Rajinikanth was underutilised with amature screenspace. The scenes of Rajinikanth could have been scripted better. Vikranth, Vishnu Vishal, Thambi Ramiah and Jeevitha have done justice to their work. Vivek Prasanna has been given a negative shaded character with a good screen-space where he has made a subtle performance.

Cricketer Kapil Dev has done a cameo as Kapil Dev. Nothing special to quote about the performance of other actors.

Vishnu Rengasamy’s cinatography looks good. B.Pravin Baskar has tried his level best to make the movie crisper but failed due to improper screenplay. Ramu Thangaraj’s art work has helped a lot for the movie. Though songs are good with AR.Rahman’s music, Rahman has failed to score well for the background music.

Lal Salaam movie can be proudly said that it is not a movie influencing narcotic drugs, defaming the modesty of women, gory scenes or usage of fily language. It is a movie made on Hindu-Muslim relationship which can be watched by families.
