Actress Anugraha Nambiar Alleges Non-Payment, Body-Shaming and Threats Over ‘Resort’ Web Series

In a disturbing development from Kollywood, the Tamil entertainment industry, actress Anugraha Nambiar has publicly accused the makers of the web series Resort—produced by Global Villagers and streamed on Jio Hotstar—of withholding her remuneration, subjecting her to humiliation, and issuing threats intended to silence her.
The series, scripted by 'Eruma Saani' Vijayakumar and directed by Praveen Bennet, features'Thalaivasal' Vijay, Vijayakumar himself alongside Dhanya Pallath and Abeneyan Nethran. However, Anugraha claims she was initially signed on as a female lead with a promised remuneration of ₹7,000 per day, only to later find her role significantly reduced without proper explanation.
Speaking about her experience, Anugraha states that she worked for approximately 17 to 20 days on the project. Based on the agreed remuneration, she estimates that she is owed a substantial balance amount, having received only ₹25,000 as advance. She alleges that despite repeated attempts to follow up on her pending payment with co-producer John and executive producer Gopi, she was redirected to Vijayakumar without any resolution.
The actress further makes serious allegations of mistreatment, claiming that when she approached Vijayakumar regarding her reduced screen presence and pending remuneration, she was subjected to body-shaming comments about her complexion and spoken to in abusive and derogatory language. She also alleges that the team prevented her from taking up other acting opportunities between October and December 2025, citing upcoming shoot schedules that ultimately did not materialize, leaving her professionally stranded.
In a more alarming claim, Anugraha has stated that she was threatened by members of the production team, including Vijayakumar, Gopi, and John, that continued demands for payment or public disclosure of the issue would result in a “red card” being issued against her—effectively barring her from working in the Tamil film industry.
Highlighting the severe impact of the situation, Anugraha says she is currently facing financial hardship and mental distress. She has made it clear that if her pending remuneration is not settled, she will escalate the matter legally and institutionally by approaching the South Indian Artistes Association, Film Employees Federation of South India, the National Commission for Women, and other appropriate authorities, including courts.
Given the seriousness of the allegations, there is now an urgent expectation that the South Indian Artistes Association and the Film Employees Federation of South India will take suo motu cognisance of the issue, intervene to ensure that Anugraha receives her rightful dues, and initiate appropriate action against those accused of harassment and humiliation.
