Produced by C.R. Rajan under the banner of Divya Chethra Films and presented by Nirmala Rajan, ‘Amaram’ is an upcoming Tamil film written and directed by Arul Krishna. The film, which unfolds across three different time periods and three distinct geographical settings, is said to be an eternal love story. Tejas Rajan and Aira Agarwal play the lead roles, while George, Sai Dheena, Nagineedu, Kalki Rajan, Harish Peradi and Vasudevan Murali form part of the supporting cast.

The audio and trailer launch event of ‘Amaram’ was recently held ahead of its theatrical release on August 28. Speaking at the event, producer C.R. Rajan said that every member of the film’s cast and crew had worked with immense dedication, giving greater importance to the film than monetary considerations. He revealed that he decided to produce the film immediately after hearing director Arul Krishna’s story, despite initially planning to make a remake.

Lead actor Tejas Rajan said that ‘Amaram’ is an important film in his career and revealed that the team had shot for more than 40 days under challenging circumstances. The film was shot across several locations, including Kodaikanal during the early hours of the morning and Ennore Beach, even while facing difficult weather conditions. He also said that more than 330 actors had worked on the project with complete dedication and expressed confidence that the film would emerge successful.

Director Arul Krishna, who has previously worked as an assistant to filmmakers Gokul and Rajan Madhav, spoke about his long journey in cinema and the influences that shaped his filmmaking aspirations. He said that he entered the film industry after being inspired by filmmakers such as K.S. Ravikumar and Shankar and had initially wanted to create a large-scale action film.

According to Arul Krishna, difficulties in putting together the intended action project eventually led him to develop ‘Amaram’. He said the film was conceived as an example of how a grand cinematic experience could be created with a relatively controlled investment through careful planning and execution. He also revealed that several members of the team had worked without demanding substantial remuneration because of their belief in the project.

Describing the core of the film, Arul Krishna said that ‘Amaram’ is a story about the lives of people who have been denied recognition and opportunities. He added that making such a story required considerable courage and credited producer C.R. Rajan for having the courage to back the project. He also expressed confidence that the film could eventually attain cult-classic status.

Aira Agarwal said she immediately connected with the story when Arul Krishna narrated it to her. She credited the director’s guidance for helping her bring her character to life and praised the contributions of the cinematography, editing and music departments. She also thanked Tejas Rajan, the producer and the entire team for their support.

Special guest Dr. V. Ramaraj congratulated the team and said that ‘Amaram’ appeared to be a film that focuses on the lives, struggles and rights of ordinary people rather than being a conventional commercial entertainer. He also used the occasion to speak about the need for greater public awareness about Lokayukta and the fight against corruption.

The film features music by acclaimed Telugu composer Mickey J. Meyer. R. Sriram, who has worked on films including ‘Vada Chennai’ and ‘Asuran’, is the editor. Bharath Kumar is the cinematographer, while Janardhanan handles the art direction. Stunt sequences have been choreographed by Miracle Michael and dance choreography is by Bhoopathi. Lyrics have been penned by Snehan and K. Soundararajan.

‘Amaram’ is scheduled to hit theatres across Tamil Nadu on August 28, with Traident Arts’ Ravindran handling the theatrical release. The film’s trailer and audio have now set the stage for its upcoming theatrical release.
